About Flat Feet
According to Mayo Clinic, you have flat feet when the arches on the inside of your feet are flattened, allowing the entire soles of your feet to touch the floor when you stand up. Many don’t suffer from any symptoms, but some start to feel pain in the ankle or heel area and turn to custom orthotics or specialty insoles.
A few factors may increase your risk of flat feet as an adult, including:
- Obesity
- Injury to your foot or ankle
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Aging
- Diabetes
Otherwise, your flat feet may simply be a result of stunted development in your feet from childhood. Alternatively, some people don’t develop arches at all, regardless of the shoes they wear. It depends on the person, which is why we don’t promote one-size-fits-all footwear – especially when it comes to supportive and comfortable footwear.
Here are some heel styles that support different parts of the foot so you can find your perfect fit for more formal occasions.
Meet “Milano”

Our Milano heel is SAS’ spin on a classic style with added support where you need it. In terms of tech, the Milano features a molded polyurethane sole containing millions of tiny air bubbles that provide ample shock absorption. It also provides our signature TRIPAD® Technology, the comfort system that provides shock absorption and support to the three main pressure points of the foot: the inside ball, outside ball, and heel.
This style is something of a chameleon in that it works with nearly every dress code, from business casual in the office to more semi-formal occasions like the theater or a dinner party. Learn more about our Milano style and browse other available colors.
“Caress” Is Comfy

Our Caress sandal heel is simple, sophisticated, and, of course, supportive. The contoured footbed follows the natural shape of the foot for support, while a flexible wedge heel offers ample shock absorption. An adjustable back strap gently holds the heel in place. You won’t find more comfortable wedge sandals than the Caress style. Plus, this style has some give in the toe department, preventing pinching and allowing as much wiggling as you please.
Heeled sandals are perfect for quick and casual commitments, like running errands, meeting up for lunch, or merely going on a walk around the block. Shop our Caress heel and learn more about our comfort-first technology.

With an easily adjustable (and stylish!) strap and buckle, you can customize how this supportive heel fits. This style uses SAS’ Supersoft® Microfiber Upper Lining, Contoured Padded Insole, and a stability outsole to ensure support, comfort, and protection for all of your daily activities.
